2009 is over, the economic recession is still ongoing. But many of the companies are still struggling and moving on. So to all of ya who survived the crash, congratulations! and to all of ya who didn’t 2010 is coming… Plan, prepare, and start a new year bountiful. I believe this year 2010 will be a fruitful one for all of us. Any updates ray?
Interesting article, especially because it shows that tough times still present plenty of good opportunities and nice career moves for talented people.
You’re correct that most tech companies have hire freezes or even moderate layoffs. My personal view on this is that the management in such companies is forced to react on the downturn in the market, but saw it coming too late. Or did see the signs coming but didn’t want to be an ‘early adopter’of the required changes. Those companies that did put their act together very early in Q1-2008, could very well be in a better position now to get back in the offense! I´m happy to say that Exact Software recently, around X-mas 08, announced that they’re seeking to hire 50 developers (see http://jobs.exact.nl) in order to boost our SaaS offering (online accounting).
