Ray -- any pickup on how Dynamics will move to Windows Azure, as a simple port, as project silk like redesign for the web, as a Project Green code-base consolidation?

I found small high tech manufacture I'm advising are looking for Facebook like "trusted space" UI. They want to share customer order specific progress, even have customers share with their customers, and have a social channel to chit-chat with customer service. But, they don't want to share anything, nothing at all, between customers.

I'm unsure if this is SCRM, but suspect Facebook has given then ideas.

Wayne - thanks for your input. It's good to see that there is a pattern emerging of replacement and upgrades. We see customers also looking to take advantage of newer architecture as well as easier integration. appreciate the insights. Do others see the same thing? - Ray

We've started to see a pretty hefty upgrade cycle in the Sage market over the past 12 months. Most of these decisions are:

a. Largely driven by external factors -- hardware/OS upgrades and a desire to maintain compatibility
b. From users several versions behind current levels
c. Largely lateral moves - not a significant source of add-on sales though we do recommend that users separate the upgrade cycle from new technology implementation.
d. Customers increasingly curious about cloud solutions though it appears that the strongest curiosity is outside of the core ERP accounting functions

Thanks ray for your response. I was actually thinking (intra-MSD - specially in ERP packages) if there are any preference when people are planning to upgrade - like from NAV to AX or GP to AX. I have faced these questions when we are in discussion with existing NAV / GP customers. Typical query is - if they can have a seamless upgrade to AX (inc. of scale, complex operations, more coverage, etc. being some of the reasons for this)...btw enjoy convergence...

Sachin - these are all Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM customers. there are no switching customers here. I also talked to prospects about cloud and upgrade and two-tier sentiments. Cheers - Ray

Ray-a good analysis and surely good news for MS partners. However, i was just curious that when you say - "Customers expect to upgrade ERP and CRM in 12 to 18 months" - what are their current ERP / CRM solutions in use...do you have a graph by this as well. Also, is there a product switching (possibly) involved as they make the decision...
